Jon Nakamatsu’s, 1997 Cliburn Competition Gold Medalist, addresses the audience during the awards ceremony prior to announcing the finalists of the fifth International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs. Mr. Nakamatsu describes not being admitted to Junior Bach when he was ten years old, and speaks about how motivating “losing” can be.
